Ancient World in
small pieces

WELCOME to my collection of vintage jigsaw puzzles
showing a world map from the beginning until 1946.

In the middle of the 18th century map makers and cartographers in Europe started to cut out maps which were fixed on wood. They called them "Dissected Maps". The British John Spilsbury (1739-1769) was a pioneer to bring them to the market. From the island the puzzle wave went to the continent: France, Germany and other european countries done their own "Dissections". And since at least the Great depression in 1929, jigsaw puzzles were a bestseller in the United States.

For a better overview the puzzles are listed by its origin (GALLERY) -
including all other maps comes belong with the item.

Also, you can find a site
where I'm showing only the world maps (SHOWROOM) -
listed by its type (jigsaw puzzle, cube games, etc.) and all the box covers, too.

The newest entry you can marvel at LATEST CRAZE.

Till now the website isn't finished. Step by step I will fill up
missing information like material, measures, map information, etc.

Thank  you for visiting.
ENJOY THE RUMMAGE!
