Joseph Scholz

Joseph Scholz - Mainz

Born in 1768 in Upper Silesia (Kingdom of Prussia, today Poland) Joseph Scholz went to Wiesbaden (Hesse, Germany)
and founded a trading company for stationery in 1793.

Unfortunately, he died in 1813, but the company’s life went on and in 1820 it expanded to include a printing and publishing house.
One of his sons, Christian, inherited his father’s lifework and in 1830 the company settled down to Mainz.

First started with lithographs the publishing house raised to a famous national and international manufacturer
of books and educational paper products for children. The company shut their doors in 1970.
